چکیده

The hemodynamic effects of acute blood volume expansion with low molecularweight dextran were studied in 11 normal patients and 18 patients with coronary artery disease free of angina at the time of study and without evidence of heart failure. In the coronary artery disease group 350 ml (range 130-540 ml) was infused at the rate of 26.7 ml/min (range 19-36 ml/min). There was an increase in left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP) from 10.3 to 18.7 mm Hg, brachial artery mean

Stereological study of octreotide’s (somatostatin analogue) chronic effects on the prevention of glomerular mesangial expansion in uninephrectomized diabetic rats

Background: Diabetic nephropathy is one of the causes of end stage renal diseases (ESRD). Increase of IGF-1(insulin like growth factor) and GH (growth hormone) in diabetes induce kidney lesions especially Intraglomerular mesangial expansion, glomerular sclerosis and finally nephron dysfunction. In this research, IGF-1 and GH production inhibition by octreotide and sclerosis inhibition assessed ...

Serotonergic mechanisms of the lateral parabrachial nucleus in renal and hormonal responses to isotonic blood volume expansion.

This study investigated the involvement of serotonergic mechanisms of the lateral parabrachial nucleus (LPBN) in the control of sodium (Na+) excretion, potassium (K+) excretion, and urinary volume in unanesthetized rats subjected to acute isotonic blood volume expansion (0.15 M NaCl, 2 ml/100 g of body wt over 1 min) or control rats. Plasma oxytocin (OT), vasopressin (VP), and atrial natriureti...

Cerebral circulatory effects of acutely induced hypervolemia in human subjects.

• Hemodynamie alterations incident to acute changes in intravaseular volume have been extensively investigated in man as well as in animals. From these studies have emerged well-defined concepts of the responses elicited by acute reductions in blood volume. On the other hand, studies of the effects of expansion of the intravascular volume have yielded no clear hemodynamie sequence whereby the c...

Effects of acute blood volume expansion on vascular resistance and reactivity in anaesthetized dogs.

1. The effects of acute volume expansion on vascular resistance and reactivity to noradrenaline and angiotensin I1 are reported in this study. The estimated circulating blood volume of pentobartibal-anaesthetized dogs was expanded by about 35% with equilibrated donor blood. The animals were bilaterally nephrectomized to sustain expanded volume. 2. Functional changes in vascular smooth muscle we...

Altitude acclimatization and blood volume: effects of exogenous erythrocyte volume expansion.

We studied sea-level residents during 13 days of altitude acclimatization to determine 1) altitude acclimatization effects on erythrocyte volume and plasma volume, 2) if exogenous erythrocyte volume expansion alters subsequent erythrocyte volume and plasma volume adaptations, 3) if an increased blood oxygen content alters erythropoietin responses during altitude acclimatization, and 4) mechanis...

Ex Vivo Expansion of Umbilical Cord Blood Hematopoietic Stem Cells on Collagen- Fibronectin Coated Electrospun Nano Scaffold

Background and Objective: Umbilical Cord blood (UCB) hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplantation is a therapeutic approach for the treatment of malignant and non-malignant hematologic disorders due to ease of collection, lack of risk for donors and lower levels of infection. Moreover, it is considered a good alternative for bone marrow HSC transplantation. The main limitation of their use is ...
